Traveling With Hot Flashes

Guide to Staying Cool Around the World

Β

A fun, honest, and practical guide for women 40+ who refuse to let menopause ruin a great trip.

Let’s be real: hot flashes don’t care if you’re in a board meeting, on a date, or halfway up a mountain in Ireland. They show up uninvited, full drama, at the worst possible moments, including on vacation.

But here’s the truth every Suitcase Gal should know:

Hot flashes don’t have to stop you from exploring the world.
With a little planning (and humor), you can stay cool, comfortable, and confident anywhere your passport takes you.

Layer Like a Smart Traveler, Not a Sweaty One

Hot flashes are unpredictable, so flexible clothing is key. Choose breathable, moisture-wicking fabrics, light cotton or linen, and loose dresses to stay cool and comfortable on the go.

Hydrate Like You Mean It

Hot flashes dehydrate you fast, so carry a refillable water bottle everywhereβ€”planes, trains, tours, and warm climates. Staying hydrated helps regulate body temperature and can reduce the intensity of flashes. Drink up!

The β€œHot Flash Emergency Kit”

Every women’s traveler needs a hot-flash kit: a small handheld fan, cooling towel, hydration packets, wipes or face mist, extra deodorant, and a fresh top. It all fits in your bag and helps you stay cool and avoid meltdown moments.

Manage Night Flashes in Hotels

Not all hotels (especially in Europe) get your need for an ice-cold room. Ask for a fan at check-in, pack lightweight pajamas, bring a spare pillowcase for night sweats, and choose hotels with adjustable A/C whenever you can.

Know Your Triggers β€” Even on Vacation

Common hot-flash triggers include alcohol, spicy food, hot showers, stress, and overheated rooms. You can still enjoy pasta and wine in Italy, just stay mindful of what sets you off to keep things comfortable and manageable.

Talk About It β€” We Get It

One of the best parts of traveling with women your age? Everyone understands. Suitcase Gals trips attract women who β€œget it,” support each other, laugh through the hot-flash moments, and never judge. You’re not aloneβ€”you’re part of a sisterhood.

Β

Hot Flashes Don’t Get to Cancel Your Adventures

Menopause may change your body, but it doesn’t change your spirit.

With the right tools (and the right group of women around you), you can explore the world, stay cool, and enjoy every moment from sunrise in Ireland to sunset in Greece.

After all, the world is waiting… hot flashes or not.
